Dads and Moms

Fathers Day and Mothers Day consisted of cookout style shin digs at my parents house. They were great times.Unfortunately, James (daddy) had to work both Fathers Day AND Mothers Day. At least he was able to stop by and get something to eat. My my boys and I, and my momma, sister and I on Mothers Day.

Jessie, Dad and I on Fathers Day!

Farkel and Fish

Farkel is a new dice game that we learned to play. Well, my boys have really taken to playing it. Its basically about a lot of luck and a little strategy and the boys love it. They believe a little blow on the dice will bring them a good roll.

They also enjoy a good game of "GO FISH". Ahh, a classic. A big high five to celebrate Sean's victory. He is quite the competitor.

Easter

My boys are so cute! I got a new Easter dress this year. Probably the first time since I was like 10. Anyway, I got dressed for church and walked by the boys bedroom. Sean said "Mom, what are you wearing?" I said "a new dress for church", he said "come here and let me see it." So I did. He said "Mom, you look great, I like that dress." AWWW, I mean really, is he cute or what?! So I said "thanks buddy." Then Seth said "I like it mom, I am going dancing with you for long." Now that's what I am talking about, he thought that his momma looked so good he was going to take me dancing. I said "aw, thanks bud, you want to take me dancing?" and he said "yeah, for long." I melted like butter. I thought that they were so sweet, I just wanted to eat them. All my boys cleaned up pretty good, I thought that they were all adorable.

James' Birthday!

March 25, 2009 was James' 30 birthday. What's a big birthday without a party. I threw him a surprise birthday party along with a few friends, his group from work, and our neighbors. I did not think that we would pull off the surprise part, but we did, he was shocked. He went "shopping" with my mom and she had him back just in time for a great celebration. These are the only photos I have.

Our New Pet Part 2

So our turtle "Boxer" only lived a week. He was sick, came out of hibernation to early etc. After some explaining, a burial, and some time, we got another box turtle. A man that works with my mom picked him up for the boys. His name is Bernie - after the man who got him for us. So far so good, we have had him for 2 weeks. I do not have a picture of him yet, but will post one later.

I am Here

Okay, so I have been slacking, and have been called out on it pretty harshly (I will not mention any names, but you know who you are, Jessie and Janice). I am sorry to all who read, or used to read my blog. We have just been busy and I don't like the computer, blah blah blah. The important thing is that I am back. I will try to catch you all up on the happenings in our life from the turtle to now.

Our New Pet

Friday (4/3) the boys and I were out and about early. Parent teacher conference and a bank run. It was crummy weather, rain, wind and more rain. On our way into town we saw a box turtle crossing the road. We barley missed him as well as the truck behind us. So........we rescued him from any other close calls he may have had. We did find that he is in fact a boy, full grown, but not very old. The boys are so excited!! They named him Boxer (very appropriate, for a box turtle). We made him a home and give him time to wonder ours. Its pretty fun.

Ahh Life!

My apologies to anyone who may read this blog. I have not posted lately because we have been pretty busy.......blah blah blah, right - so is the rest of America. I have missed out on so much I am going to start with the most recent and work my way back.

I love Life!!! Its a good thing because it happens all the time. Today is my birthday (29 years young). One of my favorite days of the year. My birthday and Mothers day are great because everyone tries to be good, do nice things, - my hubby for instance will normally do dinner, bathe the boys, and get the day cleaned up, so I can relax. Did I say that I love my birthday?!

So, it has been a little crazy around here. The past few weeks have been like a whirl wind. Sean's baseball practice started the same week swimming lessons did. James worked night shift (11 pm-7 am) followed by late shift (3pm-11am), which are particularly hard with kids activities. James has been trying to spend any extra time (whats that?) studying for his promotional test. While in the process of renovating the main bathroom.

I get up this morning to James kissing me goodbye - off to take his test. I lean up in bed to help gain some coherency to pray with him before he leaves. The boys are playing, and running up and down the hallway. They are yelling and talking and laughing. Sean was calling for me, but so was mother nature. While I am in the bath room and Sean yells "I think Boxer (our new turtle) got out of his box." I said "No, he cant." Sean said " No, I think he did." I said to him "No, I don't think he can.......... why do you keep saying that?" And Sean said " because he is in the family room." And sure enough there he was.

My mom came over and we ran some errands together. I really enjoyed it, but as much as I did, my boys kept asking, "are we done yet?" "are we going home now?" "I have to go potty". At the last stop (which was supposed to be short, my mom and the boys were going to stay in the car) they came in the store saying they had to go potty. So, we go potty. There are only two stalls in the bathroom. One says that he has to sit down, so, so does the other one. Meanwhile, a women comes in needing to use the restroom while both my boys sit perched on the only two toilets the store has to offer a lady. Needless to say she got tired of waiting and left.

I get home and find that my hubby did really well on his test. Praise the Lord!!!! BUT....he is sick. He has some sort of virus, fever, achy, chills, and other need not to mention effects. Poor thing is miserable. I think it is probably from being so stressed and overtired. Hopefully some rest and another day or two he will feel like new again.

So dinner, baths, clean up, and refereeing were back in my domain. My sweet James kept apologizing, I told him that it was alright (I really do feel bad that he feels so bad). After putting the boys to bed we watched a movie together. Marley and Me. It was good, makes you want to kiss your dog, no matter how bad she is (Maggie tends to get into trouble). I love my boys and I love my life. I hope that he is well for mothers day :)

Sean

Sunday, March 1st, was when the snow storm started. And with that snow storm came a dilemma. Sean and Seth had been playing all afternoon (nicely, I might add). Twenty minutes before the snow started to fall Seth came running out to the family room. He was very serious, Sean was hurt, and he wanted me to check him as soon as possible. So we ran back to the play room. Sean was on the floor holding his eye. You see, Seth took the leg of the little table (that he broke) and poked his brother in the eye with it. OUCH! I was worried that he may have scratched his cornea. I don't think that it was bad, but maybe it was slightly scratched. So do we go to the ER, or not go to the ER, go or not go? We didn't end up going to the ER (whew) - I didn't think it was that bad, James was working (and couldn't get home - people wrecking everywhere due to snow) and the snow was coming down pretty heavily.
When I put them to bed that evening we prayed, like we always do, and it went something like this.

Dear Lord, we thank you so much for this day. We are thankful that we were able to go to church today, and spend some time with Nana and Pop Pop. We thank you for the snow, and keep daddy safe while he is out in it. We ask, if it be your will, to heal the boys of their colds (they both had cruddy colds), and to help heal Sean's eye, and that it feels better soon. Lord, I pray that they invite you to live in their hearts, and have a relationship with you. Please allow them to sleep well. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Sean looked up after the prayer and said "Mom, thanks for putting my eye in the pray". I said "your welcome".

I just thought that it was cute that he was thankful that we prayed for his eye.

To Infinity And.........

BEYOND!

On a day to day basis Seth is Batman. But he occasionally takes a some time here and there to be Buzz, Woody, or Peter Pan. This day he was Buzz! He did this every were, off the beds, his toy chest, and on the trampoline. I thought it was cute.

I am really sorry, I worked for hours to try and turn this. It didn't work, but I thought it was to cute not to share. If anyone knows how and would like to enlighten me:)

My Boys!

Seth decided to get himself dressed. He normally does a little better than this, he must have been having and off day. Poor thing, his shirt was inside out and his pants on backwards.

The boys "helped" daddy take down the Christmas lights (a little late, I know) They did this in February, I am just know getting around to posting it. They thought that they were so cool that they were on the roof.

I Am Back

Yes, you are right, I have been a slacker. We have been a little busy (I know, NO excuses) and this is what has taken the back burner. I have some cute pictures and video to share, but I have to down load them to my computer first (another thing that has taken the back burner). So....I will post them in the next few days.

OUR WEEKEND

Sean had a half day of school on Friday. I picked him up and we went straight over to Aunt Jessie's house. The boys were going to have a sleep over, for the whole weekend:) James, unfortunately is on night shift, so Friday after dropping off the boys I didn't know what to do with myself. James was sleeping and the boys were at Aunt Jessie's. I had to drop some stuff over my fokes house on the way home and they invited me to go out to dinner with them. I was so glad they did. We went to Docs, a local favorite, and had a really nice evening.

On Saturday we had a church Valentine dinner, and it was a ton of fun. James took Saturday night off, so we were able to stay for the whole Valentine dinner and the two of us went to church the next morning.

When Sunday rolled around it was good to get my boys back. It was a beautiful day and the boys wanted to play outside when we got home. James and I wrestled with them on the trampoline and then they climbed trees. They had a blast.

I am using these photo for my project 365.

Dinner Conversation

The conversation at our dinner table is determined by what we are having. If it is something that Sean likes there is not much conversating (more eating going on than talking). IF it is something that he does not like (which is often, he is very picky), he is very chatty because if he is talking he cant eat (that would be rude). Well, last night we had spaghetti (which he doesn't like, shocker), so he was pretty talkative. Normally getting information out of him goes something like this......

Me: asking Sean, how was your day at school?
Sean: Fine!
Me: What did you learn at school today?
Sean: I don't know.
Me: Who did you play with?
Sean: No one.
Me: You didn't play with anyone?
Sean: No, just played by myself.

Which I know is Bologna.

Its all pretty much one word answers, not a talker, unless he is really excited about something or he doesn't like dinner. So back to the dinner conversation..... Sean said "today is Ground Hog day". I said "really", James chimed in "yeah it is, you are right buddy". I said "how did you know that it was Ground Hog day?" Sean said "Mrs. Nuse (his teacher) told me, and if the ground hog comes out and sees his shadow we will have 6 more weeks of Christmas!" He was so excited. Wouldn't you be! Six more weeks of Christmas! I told him "I think that it is 6 more weeks of winter (but what do I know, I didn't even know that it was Ground Hogs day). He replied with an "oh". I didn't mean to burst his bubble, but who could afford six weeks of Christmas. He is such a cutie.

A Night Out!

Tonight I went to Andie Harrison's house for our quarterly card night. Ten of us (not all were there tonight) get together and make cards. We have a great time and make some nice cards at the same time. I really enjoyed myself since I have not left my house at all in the last five days. This is a good group of women.

Snow Day!

We had a snow day today. Sean was so excited not to have to go to school. The boys paced the hallway waiting for James to wake up. All they wanted to do was to go out and play in it. We only got about 2 inches, but they didn't care. We told them to wait until after lunch (in hopes for more accumulation from the flakes falling). Daddy and the boys ran to Lowes to pick up a new bath tub (for the bathroom renovation in progress). When they got home it was time for lunch and then to go outside. They played, wrestled and had a blast.

Totally Embarrassing! (What do you do when your child....)

Seth and I went grocery shopping this morning after dropping Sean off at school. I walked up to the deli counter looking at the selection. The young lady behind the counter asked "what can I get for you?" (while I was still looking at the meat, not her). Seth being more aware than his mother, looks at her and said (very loudly, of course) "Mommy, why she got da boo boo on she face?" Panicked, because I don't know who has heard him and because I have not looked at the lady behind the counter yet. I wanted to run and hide!!! I looked up at the lady and realized that she did in fact hear him. It was a young women, in her early 20's, who had shaved off her eye brows and penciled them back in with a reddish orange brow pencil (I am hoping to match her hair, but I could not tell, it was back in a hair net). So, I pretended not to hear him (even though everyone in the deli and produce area did) because, WHAT DO YOU SAY????? Really, was I supposed to apologize on behalf of my 3 year old (who doesn't know any better) for her to respond with something like "What boo boo, what is he talking about"(with a snotty attitude of course). Not being remotely aware that she looked like she just left the circus.

As if all that wasn't bad enough, he asked AGAIN, "Mommy, why she got dat boo boo on she face?". I told him to shhhhh, and immediately asked him what movie he wanted to pick out when we got home. In hopes that talk of McQueen would take his mind off "she boo boo". I got my ham and ran. No cheese, no turkey, do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars, just run!

So, what do you say when your child says something that you wish they didn't? Please, leave a comment, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thank Goodness For Washable Markers!

Seth LOVES to draw and color! Nana and Pop Pop gave him a sketch pad with washable markers for Christmas. He was thrilled. Markers!!!!! You see, I never let him use markers because I did not want his art work around for the next few years had he decided to use something in my house as a canvas other than his sketch pad. Well......he started out doing very well with his markers, just on the sketch pad. Then slowly but surely I would have to tell him to "keep it on the paper", as marks appeared on the table, then his hands. Over the past week he was warned and even had them taken away for the rest of that particular day. Then there was yesterday (1/19/09), he had them taken away for good, at least until I think that he can use them properly. He had them back in his bedroom and colored his face, hands, feet, and are you ready for this.......his floor (thankfully for him, they are washable). I was not to upset because it really does come up with just a wet cloth. I am just tired of telling him to stop drawing on himself. The scribbling all over his floor was the end of it. I have now made sure that all other markers are cleared out of his visibility, reach, thoughts, etc. in fear that he would "use" one that was NOT washable. So, thanks Nana and Pop! :-)

Catching Up!

Not much new is going on here. We are just getting back into the normal grind of life. James back to work. Sean back to school. Seth back to playing and being mommies big helper. Me, back to my home and family. I am trying to organize, like everything, closets, drawers, cabinets, rooms, you get the idea. It is frustrating because to make it neat and clean you have to pull everything out and make a big mess first. It is like taking one step forward and two steps back.

James and I are trying to be a little healthier. We each have our personal goals and a plan of action to get there. I am not planning on doing anything that I can not continue for the rest of my life. So, I guess you would call it a life style change- NO diets- because let me tell you I cant go to long without some chocolate :)

These are not resolutions, we got started before the holidays and just got held up a little with my gall bladder issues.

The boys are doing well. They are enjoying their trampoline that Santa gave them for Christmas (yes, even in the 30 degree weather). I cant wait to get on it myself, but it will have to warm up a little bit more for me. Yes, they were jumping in there pj's and bathrobes (this was Christmas morning).

New Year

I hope that everyone had a happy New Year. We had a low key evening just the four of us. We did make plan to have friends over but, they fell through. Although we would have had a good time I think it was better in the long run since James was asleep by 9:30 pm, and I was not far behind.
